Valentine Counter Top

The kitchen island gets changed often.  I had a winter white

arrangement on the counter but now it is time for Valentines.

These fun red wood blocks spell out love, but when I went

to get them out of the storage box this year, the O

was missing.  Where could an O disappear to, I ask.

I improvised with this darling diamond ring votive

candle holder that my friend Ann gave me. 

I think it is better than it would have been.

(The O is still missing in action!)

Several people have commented on the diamond

ring.  It certainly fits the Valentine's mood.

If you saw my tablescape from last week, you know that

I enjoy Valentine's candy boxes and save them for

decor.  This year I found this great Dove chocolate box.

The shape is just exotic and it is a metal tin.

You can find this at Target or Wal Mart, or probably

any grocery store.

Of course, I will enjoy the Dove chocolates

melting slowly in my mouth.  They have the

most incredible mouthfeel.

This fun metal cloche is new this year and I have

already used it in several table tops.

This adorable heart shaped dish was a gift last

year and is usually filled with candy.

A beaded votive candle holder glows at night.

This is the winter white arrangement I had in the center of

my winter counter top decor.  I just added a few bright

red touches to make it over for this counter top.

I made this myself by filling the container with foam insulation,

then letting the insulation dry and adding silk florals,

greenery, balls and spanish moss.  This is so easy

and fun to do.

Let It Snow Table Top

Home from a sunny location with the house

still filled with Christmas decor -

 not my happy place!

I got started right away putting Christmas away

and it was getting me down when my oldest

daughter said, "Why don't you do what you do

when you decorate - play the

 Christmas music!"

That was just what I needed, it was almost as

fun putting Christmas away with the music playing

and I decided to make some table tops that

still reflected a little sparkle like the snow.

That sparkle of freshly fallen snow is one of my

favorite sights during the cold months.

I love the clean after putting Christmas away, but it also

seems a little bare, so I always keep a thing or two out

that sparkles and makes me smile.  Usually it is something

that is new for the season, like the silver and purple ornaments.

This trayscape sparkles like the snow and has a few

 Christmas touches

 that blend with the living room's decor. 

The tray was a Christmas gift from last year, it was from Z Gallerie,

but I saw it there this year too.  The tray forms the base for the

scape.

This cute frame with a picture of my granddaughter

was made by my daughter in law. 

These sell for a fortune at a local high end boutique.

 I am going to

do a tutorial on these fun frames this next week.

The mercury glass decanter and the votive candle holders

sparkle like the snow, perfect for the transition.

Even the candles have a double row of diamonds and

the crystals are like the icicles hanging during the winter.

The silver and purple mercury glass ornaments keep

me in that happy Christmas mood and go great

with the sparkle of the trayscape.

Try creating a sparkling tabletop that

reminds you of the snow.  It brings a

little sunshine in on cold winter days.

Fall Island Scape

The island needs to be decked out for Fall.

It seems that Christmas comes so fast that

there isn't much time to decorate for Thanksgiving.

We are usually out of town for

Thanksgiving, but I like to have
some  Fall decor set out.

My island is deep enough that it can accomodate a sizeable

arrangement.  Plus, it hides the faucet and sink!

I started with a beautiful floral arrangement that I have

had for years as the focal point.  It is anchored by

a table scarf to give the arrangement a base.

Then I started gathering pumpkins, gourds and candles in

varying heights and textures.

Nothing is new this year, it is all just in a new place.

I love to create new arrangements.

I needed to go find something a little shorter to fill in this

hole.

There it is a nice scape to fill the island to get everyone

in the Thanksgiving Spirit.

Today I am thankful for the joy the

little people bring.  I love being a

grandmother, it is the greatest role.

The love and joy that radiates in their

faces brightens my days and of course

their hugs and kisses are better than

chocolate!
