Happy Haunting Kitchen

Halloween decorating is all
done and we are enjoying some
new things at
Purple Chocolat Home.
This will probably be our
last month here, and definitely
our last Halloween here,
but I decided I would have fun
decorating for Halloween
anyhow.

You have seen me decorate
my kitchen counter with
my boards for years, but
this year I decided to elevate
them.  My son had made me
this small board several years
ago and I purchased acrylic
feet and glued them on the
bottom to create some
height, interest and bling.

After he had given me that black
board, I decided I wanted a large
one so I ran to Home Depot and
purchased a board and painted it
black and sanded it a little.

We had these feet that I got on
Amazon and I asked hubby to
screw them in.  It literally took
less than 15 minutes to elevate
this board.  Everyone who has
seen these loves the change.

I like layering the smaller
board in front of the
larger board.

Most of my Halloween
decor was already boxed
and moved, but my two
Haunted Houses were in
special boxes to be hand
carried.  I decided I needed
some decor out, so I
got these out and that
started the decorating!

I also had to display my new
furry cat pumpkin from
Home Goods.  The grandkids
really love the houses and
the furry pumpkin.  They
are really good to just look
and not touch.

Hubby went with my son and
grandson to a Jet's game in
New York and he asked what
I wanted him to bring back.
I said, "Oh, go to the
Mackenzie-Childs store and
get me something!"
So he went and took pictures
and I chose this.  What a great
guy!!

Beaulah is happy with all of
the fun new changes and
she is ready to party.
We are advertising all
of our parties as our
"Last Halloween Party Here"
but we are excited to move.

My Haunted Village

Halloween is all around the house,
and this year I decided to create
a Haunted Village on the piano
in the front entry, like I do the
Christmas Village each year.

It all started because I made a new
Haunted House and didn't know
where to put another one!

I made and posted about this
Haunted House last year.

This is a house I had purchased from
JoAnn Fabrics a few years back and
I had dolled it up with a few pumpkins,
brooms, a banner and some pipe cleaners.

This was a house we with our
Craft Group a few years back.
The craft leader that night had purchased
houses from Hobby Lobby and then
glittered them up and we all
brought things to accessorize
our houses.

The last house was also brought
from JoAnn Fabrics and accessorized.

Let me go back and show you some
of the fun details to my new house.

To tell the truth, it was this four poster
witch's bed that captured my eye
first at Michael's.  It has a fun purple
bedspread and a hat on the bed and it is
draped with black netting.

The fairy witch is the owner of this house.
Also notice the fun vanity mirror in the
back corner.  These were all pieces from
Michaels.

The upstairs bath is a footed tub
and a fun pedestal sink from Michaels.
I cut some fur fabric for a bath rug
and added a little folded terry towel.
The silver mirror was purchased
from Amazon.

I keep wanting to say this or that is
my favorite thing, but this black
cake has to be one of the top ones.
it is atop a spider webbed table
with sparkling bats on the chairs.

But then again, this tufted sofa can't be
beat!  No wonder I grabbed everything
I saw!

The outside porch is decorated with
two haunted trees, a cauldron,
some melting candles and
some white pumpkins.  These are
all from Michael's too.

In order to have space for a porch, I
found a slatted sign that was a gray
wash and glued the house to it.

If you have lost your way, these little
spooks will help you!

The house itself was a kit Michael's
had for $24, that just glued together.

The bad part of all of this is that
everything was here and gone in
August.  I went to a second store to
pick up another couch and everything
was gone the next day.

Here are details from the inside
of the house I made and posted
last year.

The furnishings came from Hobby Lobby,
Michael's and Etsy.

I made quite a few bottle brush trees
for Halloween a few years ago and
they are all over the village and even
inside the houses.

As you can see, Beaulah and I have been
having a lot of fun for Halloween,
flying here there and everywhere.
We are so glad we flew on over to
Michael's before all of these fun
things were gone.

My MacKenzie-Childs Barn Sale Purchase

I have been dying to share my best
purchase from the MC Virtual Barn Sale
this year.

I fell in love with this cake platter right away.
How many cake platters does a good witch
need I ask?  Well, if it is as fabulous as this,
I guess we needed another one.

She takes front and center on my kitchen counter.
She is actually made of two pieces, but
knowing people the way I do, I figured
someone would come and lift up the peak
of the hat and drop it.  I decided to use a
little earthquake proof stickum to secure
the top piece on.

You cannot believe how many people have
tried to move it!  Please people, just ask,
don't try and take it apart.  So I was glad
that I was proactive and secured it down.
The two pieces will come apart with a
slight twist.

I wish I had purchased another one for my
daughter who just fell in love with it when
she saw it.

Isn't the twist at the top of the hat
just amazing?

I may never be able to attend the real
barn sale, but the last two virtual ones
have been fun!

Thanks for stopping by to see what Beaulah
have been decorating.

She told me she would like to be repainted
in black and white with accents of gold!

Haunted Miniature House

Decorating my house this year
for Halloween
 wasn't enough;
I had to decorate a miniature house too!

There is something so magical about miniatures,
and I have been bitten by the bug.

Miss Beulah has not been very happy with me
that I haven't featured her yet on my blog,
but I had flown off on my own broomstick!

The house has been decorated since the last week
of September, but with parties and travel and
everything Halloweenish, I haven't blogged about
any of it!

I really wanted to find a dollhouse and paint
it in spooky colors, but even used doll houses
are going for a fortune and I didn't have time
to build one (and I am not sure I would ever
finish it), so when I went into Michaels and
found this top piece all painted and with a
sparkly, purple, shingled roof, I bought it.

I thought I would bring it home and have just a tiny,
tiny haunted house, but this adorable cupboard,
which I had purchased at Hobby Lobby was too
tall to fit into any of the space.

So I went back to Michaels and purchased two
unfinished wood boxes, circled above.  The bottom
one created the base, and the top one created the
living space.  A quick spray with black paint and
a little glue, and now I had a house.

I had ordered a few things off of Etsy, like these adorable
pillows.  I frayed the edges of a piece of orange and black
chevron fabric and glued the edges under for a rug.

The dresser on the right came from the dollar store.  My
daughter found that and bought it for me.

The Halloween plates, cake and cookies were also
from Etsy.  I had made the bottle brush trees a few
years ago for Halloween.

The spooky apothecary jars were from Etsy,
along with the manuscript tied in string, but
the packages, letters, books, table, pots and plates
all came from Michaels and Hobby Lobby.

This spooky toadstool rests in moss in one
of the valleys of the roof.  I purchased him
from a local holiday boutique - The Holy Cow.

I added windows and fireplaces inside and out.

The cool candlestick stump was also from Holy Cow.

You can find things in the fairy garden section,
the dollar store, craft stores, and online.  There
are also wonderful youtube videos on how to make
miniatures.  Hunting for things has been half
of the fun!

Of course, now I want to make a Christmas one.
I had picked up a lot of beautiful miniatures
a few years ago when we went to the
Christmas Markets
in Germany, and this would be a fun way
to display them.
Young and old were fascinated with it.

Glad you stopped to visit!  Beaulah

has made me promise we will post more!

My Bewitching Kitchen

Welcome to my betwitching kitchen,
which is always the center of activity
any time of year.

I made this new serving board in black
this year.  I love having a board that
can gather all of the decor or food.

My son made my white and gold one
that is usually on the kitchen counter.
He had made my daughter a brown one.
But later he made her one like mine so
the brown one went in storage.
I had a little piece of wood that
I was going to throw out, I thought I
should paint it black and rough it up.

Well it worked so well, that then I
called her and told her to bring her
brown board over and we painted it
black.  Hers was nicer because it had
nice finished edges, but I decided
to go to Home Depot and buy an
8x10 board and paint it and sand
it and voila!!!!  I love it!
($14 for the board!)

This banner over my hood I have had
for a few years.  I got it at a boutique.

But the black pumpkin pot is new
this year from Home Goods.
I fell in love with it and three of them
leapt into my cart.  That is a dangerous
store with leaping merchandise.

My son and daughter in law gifted me this
Disney castle made from a 3D printer.
The plastic poison apple mugs are
from visiting Disneyland at Halloween.
I just love Disneyland at Halloween.
We are headed there tomorrow!!

On the other side of my kitchen is
where Beaulah likes to hang out.
She perches by the pizza oven waiting
for a party.

A little black garland, some orange
feathers and creepy eyeball wreaths
(from Target last year or the year before)
complete the mantel of the pizza oven.

Stop in and have a Halloween treat
with Beaulah and I any time.

WE HAVE BEEN DIEING TO HAVE YOU!
