My Thanksgiving Mantel

It has been a busy week trying to
get all of Halloween put away and
decorate for Thanksgiving.

Even Thanksgiving can be done up
with a little sparkle.

I made the banner for the mantel using
this free download by
Then I added some glitter to the
letters and mounted them on metallic
silver papers and strung them with
jute.  I cut my papers 5 wide by
6 1/2 long, and that worked perfectly
for her letters.

The French script pumpkins were from Home Goods
several years ago.  I looked everywhere for a metallic
garland that would go with my neutral look,
and just found this one the other day at our
new Home Goods.  Now I don't have to drive
40  minutes to a Home Goods
(kind of addicting!)

Actually, the mercury glass vases are from
Home Goods several years ago too.

I love the gold, silver and coppery tones
of the garland.

Gold candlesticks and a polka dot
gold pumpkin adorn the hearth.

The pumpkin sits on a champagne colored
cake pedestal.

Everything turned out better than I had
planned.

Give thanks daily, and it will come back
to you!  Thank you for coming to visit
our Thanksgiving home.

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.

  1. Your mantel looks fantastic! I love your energy. I barely decorated for fall and I'm still de cluttering for Christmas. I love the banner and script pumpkins. I have something similar to the gold spotted pumpkin. I tried not to do too much for fall so a lot of my stuff stayed in boxes!

    1. Yes, it always has to have a little bling, and definitely not orange to fit in!

    1. Thanks Jenna, that's why non-traditional colors work so great - if you are going for the elegant look.

  5. That's really pretty. But, let's go back to that ruffled vase with green and purple. First dibs if you decide to rid yourself of it. LOL

    1. Haha! Inherited that with a home we bought. Finally found the artist's work at a gallery in Hawaii- we were shocked at how valuable it was! That's why it is up high - but a thrown toy could still get it!

  6. Jacqueline, I like the bit of sparkle for Thanksgiving! The banner is very cleverly made with the metallic paper and glitter. You will enjoy having the Home Goods store so near you! Linda

    1. It is great having it near - but we have already been too often, as so it seems has everyone else in the valley!
