Black Cherry Creamsicle Ice Cream and Float

We have kept the ice cream machine
busy since summer began making
fresh batches of homemade
ice cream and our new favorite
is
Black Cherry Creamsicle Ice Cream.

That may sound like a strange favorite
but wait until you taste it.

It was inspired by a Black Cherry Float
that we had at
Pizza 712.

The base of the flavor
is
Virgil's Black Cherry Cream Soda.

We now have a stash of those in our
fridge constantly.  I have substituted
other Black Cherry Cream Sodas
but the kids insist that Virgil's is
the best.

Black Cherry Creamsicle Ice Cream

2 -12 oz bottlesVirgil's Black Cherry Cream Soda
1 1/2 C. sugar
3/4 C. evaporated milk
2 C. whipping cream
1 sm. pkg. white chocolate instant pudding mix
1 tsp. clear vanilla
pinch salt

In a large bowl mix everything but the soda
together with a whisp.  Pour in the two bottles
of Black Cherry Cream Soda.

Pour the mix into your ice cream maker
up to the fill line.  This is enough for
a 2 quart ice cream maker.

I am so in love with my Cuisinart 2 Quart
ice cream maker that I did a giveaway for one
several years ago.  (I just made two batches of
ice cream the other day,
one with my Cuisinart 2 Quart
- didn't like the smaller one -
and one with my Kitchenaid attachment.
The Cuisinart 2 Quart made ice cream
that was solid enough to scoop.
The Kitchenaid and the
smaller Cuisinart made soup.
Invest in the 2 Quart.)

I always make mine early in the day and after
removing the paddle, I pop it in the freezer for
the remainder of the day so it is scoopable.
It even gets better in a couple of days -
that is called ripening the ice cream,
but who can wait that long!??

But we couldn't just enjoy the ice cream
by itself, we had to make it into a
Black Cherry Creamsicle Float!

Wow, double the flavor!
This is like my Homemade
Rootbeer Ice Cream
made into a Root Beer Float!
Melt me!

Ok, this is our new favorite!!

But if you aren't in the mood to make ice cream,
any good quality vanilla ice cream
like Costco's Kirkland brand will make
a great float using Virgil's (or Henry Weinhard's
Black Cherry Cream Soda,
but don't tell my children I think that one is ok too!)
