Halloween Mannequin

Look what new witch came to roost
in my entry way!

You know all things here at
Purple Chocolat Home
are witchy,

and Beaulah and I love to surround
ourselves with these fun ladies!!

My crafty friend Joanne always has
a dressed mannequin or two and you may
have some some of them on my tablescapes
posts from her backyard.

These two were at our last dinner party,
which had a Halloween theme.

So we begged her to teach us how to
create them for one of our crafting
parties.  Everyone was to bring a mannequin
and thrift dresses, fabric swatches, jewelry,
and a witch hat - anything we wanted to
dress the lovely ladies with.

She had one already dressed, so we asked
to see her "under pinnings"!!  The wire is
a lamp shade stripped of fabric and attached
to her metal mannequin.  (Home Goods and Amazon
are great places to pick up mannequins.)  Then she
uses craft paper to help poof out the skirt.  Layers
of crinolines and puffy skirts help too.

This is my mannequin that night. I started with two ruffled
black skirts, and a short crinoline.  Then I layered
on "fairy" skirts in orange and purple.

One of the ladies offered me the big jeweled
spider that she had.

Her top was a costume piece that I had, and I
glued black and purple roses from Dollar Tree and
a feather boa.

Using a purple chair tie, I wrapped her waist
for a belt, and then tied a ribbon with assorted
fabric strips around her waist.  More roses
were glued on and I clustered those with
other sparkly picks, a crocheted doily, and
a key from At Home.

To finish her off, I added a black leaf garland
from At Home, a hat I already had purchased
years ago from Wal Mart that I added a little
sparkle to.

When we got home I added this broom that
was a gift sent all the way from Finland 40
years ago, and some glass slippers!!  The
black and sparkly entry rug was also from
At Home.

Five of us worked on witch mannequins
that night, and each were so different
and unique.  Notice there is even a mini witch
on the far left.

I am already pulling things out of my closet
to create an angel one for Christmas, inspired
by this one Joanne had set up.  She has one or two
year round in her house.  This one has bits and
pieces of vintage fun, and jewelry from her mom.

Can't wait to get my new one started.

I also added a fairy light to her skirt so that
she lights up a little.

She stands by my table with the MacKenzie Childs
pumpkins that I found at Home Goods this year
and these fun witch shoe candles.

Keep joining Beaulah and me for Halloween fun!
