Bumble Bee Tablescape

is having a table theme challenge of

Birds...Bees...Flowers...Trees

so it was fun to bring out my

Bumble Bee plates that I 

purchased a few years ago at Horchow.

This is one of the first nice days we have had

so I decided to set the table outside.

Bright white and yellow -

 it just makes you happy doesn't it?

Our spring flowers are in full bloom so they

joined our table.  I planted all my pansies

last fall in these two colors and with some

daffodils and pink tulips, it looks like spring

around here.

I just think these Bumble Bee plates are

so fun.

The dinner plate has honeycomb in the center

and bees buzzing around the outside.

The salad plate has the honeycomb around the

edge and nice big fat bee in the center.

Bubble goblets in clear and yellow

 are fun and sunny too.

Of course my Napolean Bee flatware needs to 

adorn this table.

I think I like bees in this form best -

no danger of getting a sting.

I love the textural interest on all of the plates.

I ordered this one in champagne 

and another in lavender (of course).

The really nice thing is that you 

don't have to order in multiples - you can

get just one if you like.

The centerpiece is a silk floral with 

lemons and pears.  I often have this one

in my kitchen and thought it would

be perfect with the bees.

Yes, there is still a lot of snow on Mt. Timpanogos,

just keep it up in the mountains, we are done

with it down here in the valley.

I didn't realize this was my third Bee tablescape.

Wish I had one of those cupcakes right now.

Guess I will just have to settle for

Moonstruck Chocolates.

Buzzing Bees Tablescape

The bees are buzzing around here with Spring's advent

and they decided to come out and join our table today.

The tulips are beautiful but Monday we almost reached 90 degrees

and the ones in the shade survived but the tulips at the front

of the house just melted in the heat.

Fortunately these beautiful double tulips were spared.

I just had to take this table outside to enjoy the pretty weather.

A touch of bright yellow pansies is the perfect touch

for this yellow and white table.

I just love these beautiful bee plates with their 

honeycomb edges.

They layer beautifully with my white plates and a yellow

ruffled placemat.

The Napoleon Bee flatware was the only choice for my 

Buzzing Bees table.

The inspiration for the table is this wonderful new beehive shaped

pewter bowl that I found on my Spring Break trip to Cabo.

I have never seen one like this before and I thought I needed

it for a salad bowl to go with my bee plates.

We look out at two mountain peaks - from this direction it is

Mount Timpanogos.

From this direction we look at Squaw Peak.

Here is a close up of the bees that are on the outside of the inverted

hive.

If you haven't used any pesticides on your pansies they

are edible and so beautiful in a Spring salad.  I tossed

spring greens with chicken and raspberries and then threw

in some edible flowers for this salad.

A bowl of bright yellow lemons is perfect for

the center of the table.  Yellow is such a happy color.

I paired yellow and clear bubble glasses to finish off the table.

The Bees Are Buzzing - 24th of July Celebration

We are lucky in Utah because we get to

have fireworks both on the 4th of July and

on the 24th of July.  On the 24th of July we

celebrate the pioneers entering the Salt Lake

valley in 1847.  It is called Pioneer Day.

Utah is known as the Beehive State,

so today's table honors our 24th of July

Celebration with a bee table. 

A few months ago I received an email coupon for 30 percent

off anything on Horchow's  website.

Of course, I had to go take a look and  I found these

fun Bumble Bee plates.

They are a soft buttery golden color and the 

raised detail is just wonderful.

Matching salad plates have the reverse design 

with the honeycomb around the rim and the bee

in the center.

They also had Wallace's 

Napoleon Bee flatware, and with everything

30 percent off, I decided to splurge since I am from the

BEEHIVE STATE.

Here is a closeup of the bee plates.

It was really fun to use these for the first time

for a family dinner.  Adults and children alike

were really enchanted by the bees, both on the

plates and on the flatware.

I added a little craft store bee to a silver napkin ring

and tucked in a little ivy and a yellow rose from

the garden.

The beehive table needs a little beehive

cake don't you think?

Yellow and clear bubble glasses

and ruffled placemats sit atop a

stone table.

Since bees love flowers and so do I,

I cut some Peace roses and my very first

gardenias ever.

The gardenias are a potted plant that I hope to 

take indoors for the winter.  

The smell is just incredible!

The Bee hive cakes were made

from 

Betty Crocker's  Bonnie Butter Cake Recipe

which is always my go-to recipe for a buttery, rich

cake.  I have my Betty Crocker Cookbook from 1976,

right after I graduated from high school!

 I baked them in my mini bundt pans and

stacked two, then crumb coated them and piped

on a Honey Cream Cheese frosting.

Yum! (I will have to fight off the bees!)
