Valentine's For My Entry

Valentine's Day is just around the corner
and my new favorite decor items are
these fabulous hand blown glass
hearts that I picked up
in Cabo.

I have them grouped on this
black chest of drawers in
my formal entry.
They came in such fun colors
and sizes that I decided to
buy a few and showcase them
together.

This is the largest size.

I paired it with a medium, both in
pretty aqua and placed it on this
silver platter.

I chose a variety of small ones to place
on these metal hangers.  The hangers
were a little rough looking but with
a can of black paint that we had
in the garage down there, they were
soon looking brand new.

The colors are just jewel-like!

Two more hang on this romantic
little hanger for two.

I am always thrilled when I can get
glassware safely back from vacation.

My trick is to always bring a hard-sided
carry-on piece of luggage.

The glass hearts are so pretty
when the sun shines through them.

I learned something about bargaining
in Cabo
Go shopping on a day when the cruise ships
aren't in town!
And
If it happens to be a rainy day (which it rarely is, but
it was this day) you will get much better prices!

These are our rainy day bargains!!

I will be posting this with

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.

  11. So pretty and there is nothing like the real thing!

With that said; I hope you don't mind me sharing a 'faux' glass project that is for 'Japanese fishing floats' which IMO could always be used for making the hearts.
    Supplies:
Clear GLASS ball ornaments or hearts in this case. ☺
    Matte Mod Podge
    Fabric Dye (powdered)/Colours of
    your choice
Hot Water and 8 oz. cup containers
    for mixing dye solution
Oven / Baking Sheet / empty toilet
    paper rolls

    Preheat oven to 180º F.

Cut toilet paper rolls in half. You will use these as pedestals for drying the ornament.

    Remove ornament collar.
Fill ornament to about 1/3 full of Mod Podge. Slosh it around, completely coating the inside.
Pour excess of the liquid into the next and so on.
Place toilet paper rolls on cookie sheet and right side up top off with the ornament.
Bake until Mod Podge is clear. Remove from oven.
(As oven temps. vary, please monitor closely.)

Prior or during baking; prepare your solution of dye(s).
About 1 TSP. to 1 cup boiled water & a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly to dissolve powder.
*The amount of dye you use determines the colour.

Pour dye mixture into ornament and let stand for approximately 3 minutes.
Pour liquid out. Let thoroughly air dry.
    Voila you are done!
    -Brenda-
Footnote: For the 'fishing floats', the ornament collar is not replaced as jute (or similar cording) is looped and mutiple knotted then glued inside the opening.
