The Hogburger

The Salt Lake, The Magazine For Utah
 is a fun magazine
to buy because it often has restaurant reviews.

They recently featured "75 Best Burgers"
in the state.

caught my eye.
It is made at Brittons in Sandy, Utah and is described
as a 'hamburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches,
one with onions and one with tomatoes."

The picture made my mouth start to water and I
decided this was one hamburger we had to try making
at home.

We grill outside come rain or shine, winter or summer
so hamburgers are year round here.

I started with fresh tomatoes that I salted and peppered, onions
that we caramelized,
and hamburger meat that I seasoned with olive oil, salt
and pepper.  We grilled the burgers on the BBQ and
then brought them in while we made the grilled cheese

We buttered the outside of two pieces of good white bread
and topped each piece of bread with a slice of colby/jack
cheese, then tomatoes on one side and grilled onions on the
other side.  These were each topped with another piece
of buttered bread and grilled on the other side until the
cheese is melted.

Place the burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches, one
with tomatoe and one with onions.  You could also add a
couple slices of bacon (if you want your heart to really stop!)

I don't know why they named it the Hogburger, except that
maybe you feel like a HOG when you are eating it.

I thought it was absolutely fabulous.  I knew I should have
stopped at a half, but I have to admit that I
I would highly recommend trying this (but only
after you have already broken your New Year's
resolution to diet.)

I will be posting this with

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.

  1. We saw this idea and also tried husband's eyes LIT UP when he saw the pictures of this burger. He too was in HOG HEAVEN. Sadly we had a strong storm come through the end of Dec. and it blew our grill off it's very secure perch on the back porch into the yard in pieces...we have yet to replace it and burgers just aren't the same cooked inside. It makes me wish we had installed the indoor grill when we built after all...I just couldn't decide. I better close out your page before he walks by on his way out the door or he'll be drooling.

  2. It's 7:00 in the morning and I am hungry! I want a hogburger now!

  3. Gosh ... these look scrumptious! We also grill all year round so we could be eating hogburgers for dinner tonight!

  4. Oh my goodness! That looks so yummy! Cheese, onions, tomatoes and a burger...can't miss!

  5. Do you think that it would be ok to have hogburgers for breakfast? I don't think I can wait for tonight to make them. They look awesome! Maybe some sweet potato fries on the side? home made coleslaw? Oops, I just felt my buttocks slightly increase!

  6. My mouth started watering when I saw your photos too! We grill year-round also and I am most definitely going to make these when my husband and I feel like being a little hoggy ;)
