Dining Room Makeover Finished

So here it is!  I finally am posting my completed
dining room makeover -
and Purple Chocolat Home
has some much desired PURPLE in it!!

I swooned when I saw these gorgeous banquettes
and tufted chairs at Z Gallerie this summer and
knew that I was ready for some lightening up
in the dining room.

You know it all started with this remake of an
ugly green piece that I had in the basement
for plate storage.  After painting it, I knew
that I wanted it upstairs.  Now it stores
lots of plates and glasses, plus it looks great.

The bling on the knobs fits in perfectly with
the bling of my dining room chandelier.

I removed the red lampshades on the chandelier, and you
can't believe how much prettier the chandelier is now.

It pops during the day, but wow, it really pops at night.
Gone are the red rugs.  I am loving the travertine flooring
without rugs.  It just looks so much more open.

The other piece I redid is on the opposite wall, and
it provides great storage too.

I love using both pieces
to display beautiful plates, ready for a dinner.

The bureau is decked out with a little fall glitz
like the buffet.

I ordered a table, and then was informed it was no longer
available.  I searched on Wayfair and found this fabulous
heavy table with two extension leaves that takes it almost
to ten feet!  Actually I had seen this very table at a gift
shop when visiting my sister Joni last summer, but they wouldn't
sell it and didn't have any information on it.

I couldn't believe my good fortune - not getting the
other table, so having to look again, and finding this
one I had loved.  It is a little hard to order online,
but since I had already seen it in person, I knew
I would love it.

I love the eclectic mix of the rustic and elegance.

A few gold bling pieces adorn the table.

The pineapple welcomes you into the new dining room.

The third wall has a little niche and this
storage cabinet used to have a red hand painted
door and lower drawer.  That got repainted
to a shiny silver with new silver knobs.

Red satin curtains were replaced with whispy gauze ones,
which again lightens the space.  I am in love
with the lightness and brightness of my new dining room.

Let's get together for dinner!

I will be posting this on

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.

  3. Light and bright, with that lush shade of purple that's almost edible itself. Simply charming. The decor is perfectly balanced, with all the deft touches of shine, but the setting allows food and friends and conversation to shine, as well.

rachel, wondering at this moment where is that big box of jewelly knobs I bought at an estate sale years ago. Also wondering if that previous owner put them away for "someday," and left them to languish forgotten, as well.

  5. Beautiful! I love the Banquette and chairs. When I saw the Banquette in the Z Gallerie catalog I thought, what could I do with one of those in my favorite shade of purple. I call it lavender. Alas, no go. They are beautiful and so exquisite! I love what you have done to the dining room. I especially love the silvered treatment you did to the armoire. The table looks wonderful in there. It is so similar to one I have that I bought at T. Point a couple years ago. They had 2 of them, so we purchased one of them. Amazing job you have done.
