Pretty In Purple

Do you remember when I had a luncheon and
I taught my guests how to do the ombre rose cake
and then we ate it for dessert?
(Follow the link above for the tutorial.)

Well, they had such a fun time taking turns trying
to frost the cake that they have gone home and
made their own.  The gorgeous lavender one
above was made by Barb for her daughter's
birthday.

This stunning yellow one was made by Breta
for one of the kiddie's birthdays.

Annette and her girls made one just like this one of
mine in pink and sent me a photo of it.

Isn't it fun that we can take a photo with our
phones and send them right out to our friends.

I am so proud of all of them and this is
making me crave a slice of cake!

It is really fun to get together and try to
learn something new.  Give it a try
with friends or family.

  2. Good Morning Jacqueline, How fabulous that your girlfriends made their own version of your gorgeous cake.
I am going to give this a try. I have never piped icing before so this will be fun. I think I will practice first and then make a cake for my mother, Phyllis, as a welcoming cake when she comes to visit. I shall let you know how I get on.
    Best Wishes

  3. I just watched your Chanel 5 video of Pizza Factory Breadsticks making. You are truly generous to share your tricks and lead us to believe it is THAT easy ahahahah

You should have a program of your own. I'd follow and be a fan, that's for certain.

Now, this cake is an entirely different matter and I imagine lots of attention and firm hand are needed. They look so beautiful, though. Oh, one day who knows...

Thank you for sharing your friends and your works of Art. You're all to be Congratulated!

    Yours,
    Teresa

  8. Yes, follow the link under the first photo for the tutorial. It really is easier than you think. The cake layers show you where to put the rows of roses and if you hate the rose, just scrape it off with a knife and do another one. Once the whole cake is done you don't notice the imperfections as much.

I'll have a slice, please... or maybe two! ;-)

  12. Hi Jacqueline,
I have been wanting to make this cake ever since your first post of it! I think it would be perfect for a bridal shower or Mother's Day! Maybe I will try. I used to help my Mom with her cake decorating when I was a kid, but I haven't tried since then. All the colors on these cakes are just gorgeous! Linda

  14. My husband said that in med school the motto was "See one, do one, teach one." That's apparently the same motto in your kitchen!!! All of the cakes turned out so pretty!!! I am inspired to try it myself next time I bake a cake! No more slacking off by slappin' some frosting on there and callin' it a day! :-)

Yes, I do remember your ladies luncheon and you teaching them how to create this gorgeous cake. So many possibilities. Kudos, my friend. What's going on with Joni? 17. I'm about convinced that if all these people can do this, so can I! I just need the right occasion. The lavender is very pretty isn't it? I would really like that piece of cake right now (she says as she eats an Asian Pear instead)!
