In My Pretty Garden

In my pretty garden the flowers are nodding.
"How do you do?" they say,
"How do you do today?"
In my pretty garden the flowers are nodding.

These are the words to a song I sang in
Primary when I was a little girl.  I always think of these
words from the song, "In The Leafy Treetops", Anonymous,
when thinking of my garden.

Yes, I am in love with flowers and only wish I had more
space for them and that they would last longer.

These are the last of the spring flowers - beautiful
yellow and purple and deep dark purple iris blossoms.

These blossoms are so dark they are almost black.  I love the
way the camera captured the edges of these and put them
in focus while it softened all of the rest of the picture.

The placesetting is simple today because I want to focus on my
pretty plates all done in grayscale with just the purple flowers
in color.

These subtle plates complement rather than compete with the
fresh flowers.

Aren't the colors of these iris blossoms fabulous?  The table is
strewn with the blossoms.

Just a purple charger and cream flatware on my favorite
outside tablecloth that is such a great neutral backdrop
for my outdoor tables.

My amethyst salad plates sit off to the side.

Each of them is topped with purple napkins and a crystal
flower napkin ring.

My amethyst goblets are more delicate than some of my other
goblets so they don't come out as often.

I love this purple ceramic I got last summer.  It will be wonderful
for a salad.

It has a rustic classic charm to it.

Other little floral posies are placed in the pretty lavender glasses
my daughter in law gave me for Mother's Day.

I want to enjoy the out of doors as much as I can before
the summer heat comes.

This table is calling to me Jacqueline; I love the footed bowl you plan to toss a salad in, and the chargers.
The first two irises made me think of purple and chocolate right away.

Beautiful, Jacqueline! I have those plates, too, and I think they are just the coolest!!! I couldn't decide whether that was dogwood or what on there until I just gave up and took a plate to the nursery for the guy to identify it. Ding, ding, ding! We have ourselves a winner. Dogwood, it is! You did a fantastic job with the table overall with that gorgeous stemware and those gorgeous chargers. The color of the iris is just beautiful with the place settings. Fabulous job!

Your iris blossoms made me think of my grandmama. She always had such glorious iris growing in her extensive gardens. I can still picture her on her knees in her beds, working with those beautiful blooms. Your table is gorgeous...I think that you have the market cornered on great purple and amethyst pieces. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

I am so happy to see more and more tables done in shades of purple. When I first started blogging it took me quite some time to find enough purple to do a table...now it seems to be more easily obtained. I ♥♥♥ that large bowl, gorgeous!
