Miracle on 34th Street is one of my favorite holiday
films. Who can't help but love this 1947 classic film.
Kris Kringle becomes upset when the Santa Claus for
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is found intoxicated.
He is asked to take the place of the drunken Santa and
does such a good job that he is hired to be the Santa at
Macy's flagship store in New York City on 34th Street.
Kris Kringle is eventually put on trial to prove that he
really is Santa Claus.
Macy's
and their Thanksgiving Day Parade and The
Miracle on 34th Street are a big part of holiday
traditions.
Yes, there really is a Santa Claus and he is helping us
celebrate reaching 100 posts and 500 followers
by having a $100 gift certificate giveaway from
Macy's Department Store!
This gift certificate should be a wonderful way to start your

Now to help with your Thanksgiving celebration -
Create this stunning Fall centerpiece quickly and
easily. You might even have everything you need
around the house. It takes very little time and
very little talent!
This idea was featured on The Style Sister's
Centerpiece Wednesday a couple of weeks ago from
Better Homes and Gardens and it caught my eye. I decided
to head to the store and try making my own.
Supplies
clear glass vase, goblet style
(I already had this from my son's wedding reception -
I got it on clearance at Wal Mart last January for $7.
Wal Mart has a great clear glass vase selection.)
silk flowers - I bought a Fall bush at Wal Mart for about $7
glue gun and glue sticks
small pumpkin (this one came from our garden)
I began with the purple and green flowers around the lip of
the glass, then I glued on the oak leaves to the bowl and
then pulled flowers apart to cover the stem.
Then I covered the base with leaves and added
additional flowers around the base.
This was really easy and could be done a million ways.
A few decorative berries draping on the sides with a little
greenery and leaves and the pumpkin was topped with its
own flower. This vase was done in less than an hour.
I placed it on my side table in the living room with a few other
Fall items.
What a fun and easy change from plain glass to fanciful vase.
It almost looks like the Fall Garden fairies
might have created it!
I will be posting this with
For the Thanksgiving Challenge I wanted to say
that I am thankful for my five senses. Especially
at this time of year, I love sight and smell and
sound. The sparkle of the holiday lights, the smell
of cinnamon and the sounds of Christmas music
and children's excitement.

I love your centerpiece! So beautiful and so unique! Great giveaway...Macy's is a perfect tie-in with the movie! I am a devoted follower:)
ReplyDeleteI would probably buy something from Martha Stewart's baking line.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite parts of the movie is when the store manager is listening, out of view, to Kris(Santa) speak with one of the moms of the lined up kids. She tells Kris she can't find the toy she wants at Macy's, and Kris tells her to go to the competing store,Gimble's. The manager's(can't remember his name)face changes from happy to horrified! :) I also like the scene when Kris speaks the language (Dutch?) of the little foreign girl and sings with her, which astonishes Susan. Can you tell I like this movie too? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline! I follow, thanks for the chance at this great give-away! My Christmas cards actually contained a copy of this movie last year, folks really enjoyed it!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the movie is when they go visit the new house.
ReplyDeleteI am a happy follower.
ReplyDeleteI would take my daughters with me and buy us all something nice for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the movie is at the end when they are at the Christmas house and the little girl tells them that she asked for a sibling. The look on their faces cracks me up each time and being a mother of 6, I can understand that look. LOL Happy Holidays and thank you for the great give a way!

ReplyDeleteIt's awful hard to pick out a favorite part of the movie, but I'll tell you TWO that I can think of right off the cuff!.. For one, I love the part when Doris writing a note for Kris saying she believed too!!.. And for another, I loved the end of course, when they find his cane standing by the fireplace!! Honestly, I choke up and smile at the same time, just thinking about both parts!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous centrepiece! Simple, easy and beautiful! Congratulations on 500 plus followers! xox

I would buy some boots from Macy's for sure! I'm always on the lookout for boots..I've never lived in snow until now. First winter ever and I have 1 pair of boots haha.
ReplyDeleteI would also take my hubby and have him pick something out :)
If I won a Macy's certificate I would probably buy my daughter something fun to wear. Her budget only allows shopping for "business professional" clothes!
ReplyDeleteAs for the movie...it has been a long time since I've seen it, but my main memory is just how cute Natalie Wood was in the film. I always admired her as an adult and I was fascinated with her as a child in the movie.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab centerpiece. Love the purple in the mix! I am a follower of your wonderful blog. Congrats on 100 posts and 500 followers! Way to go!!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part, the miraculous dream home at the end, of course, the happily ever after part!
ReplyDeleteMy first Grandbaby is due in April so I would use the gift certificate to help my daughter buy something for that sweet baby!!
ReplyDeleteI love this movie. One of my favorite Christmas movies of all time. I think one of my favorite parts is when Santa speaks to the little girl in her own language. It just melts your heart how she perks up and is no longer afraid! Oh now I need to go watch it again!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is near the end when they're driving down the street and the little girl yells "Stop the car! Stop the car!" and they go in and find the cane by the fireplace and the swing in the yard. Talk about a perfect ending!
ReplyDeleteNew bedding, definitely bedding!

ReplyDeletestaci@justsewsassy.com
Jacqueline -- what a fun giveaway. I love the old Miracle on 34th Street. Is the little girl Natalie Wood? The Santa is the best Santa. I love his interview with the psychiatrist! I also love it when Santa knows the little girl's language. I love it when the mail comes into the courtroom all addressed to Santa and the young attorney wins the day. I love Maureen O'Hara in this role. And of course, I love the ending when the little girl gets her dream house and the cane is by the fireplace. It's a great holiday classic and what a great way to celebrate your 100 posts and 500 followers. I am so glad you are in blogland. Your posts are so fun and creative! Joni

ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meri
And the third and final entry.......
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the movie is actually at the end when they find the cane in the house they stopped to look at. It just epitomizes all the hopes and dreams that Santa really could exist, and I love the excited feeling I get every time I see it. It's going on 45 years of watching it (at least twice during the season) and I have to have the colorized version......I'm spoiled that way.
Hugs,
Meri
