Chocolate Cauldron Cakes

It's that time of year to pull out your cauldron
to whip up some of those Halloween potions
and spells to enchant and delight!

These little pots are not only charming,
they are delicious and the little
witches and wizards
will be grabbing them off your plate.

Beaulah and I whipped these up to celebrate
our entrance letters to Hogwarts.
She says she doesn't need any training at
Hogwarts, but I certainly do!

We started with my favorite brownie recipe baked
in a half round silicone mold.  After cooling and
removing the brownie from the mold, we dipped them
in chocolate, and let cool.

The bubbling brew is almond flavored buttercream,
which really tastes yummy!

Cauldron Cakes Recipe

2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 C. sugar
1/2 C. butter, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 C. flour
1/3 C. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1 C. semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 C. melted chocolate discs

Preheat oven to 350.  Blend the eggs, sugar, melted butter,
and vanilla.

In another bowl, mix together the flower, cocoa and
salt with a whisk.

Mix the two together with a spoon.  Stir in the
chocolate chips.
Bake in a lightly greased domed silicone pan for about 25 minutes.

Let cool, then pop in freezer to help remove them from
the silicone molds.  Makes 6

Remove carefully from the molds and dip
in the melted chocolate.  Turn upside down and
let cool.

When cool, pipe three dots on for
legs.  Let cool.  Turn over and pipe chocolate
around the rim of the cauldron.

Pipe handles with the chocolate.  Let cool.

Bubbling Potion Frosting

1/4 C. softened butter
2 C. powdered sugar
3/4 tsp. almond flavoring
Neon green food coloring
2 T. or more water

Place all in mixing bowl and beat
until creamy adding more water as needed.

Pipe with a round tip into the cauldrons.

Apply the handles by dipping ends into a
little melted chocolate.

Hooray!  We will be going to Hogwarts soon!

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.

    1. Yes, she is always excited to get out of her box and join the fun in the kitchen and house! We decorated early since my sister from Texas was coming. Her husband really seemed to enjoy the house being decorated.

    1. They were inspired by ones we had at Orlando's Harry Potter. The ones in California were pretty sloppy looking. A little disappointing.
