Trick Or Treat

I know you have seen me
 in a couple of
"pretty witch"
outfits
but my alter ego
which comes out every Halloween
night, is always a lot spookier!

We have Drewcilla riding her bicycle up
in the sky about 15 feet up and she is
all lit up.  We always have
spooky music
over loudspeakers and
fog machines
and
strobe lights.

This was me last year
ALIEN ATTACK.
Hubby was in his Alien suit
also.  I stood on a bar stool
and as he slowly opened the
door, I stuck one hand out and then
my head and nobody could figure
out how I could be so tall.
The fog oozed out the open door
and then he appeared too!

BOO!!!

I always stay in character and
the Alien just made clicking sounds
and screeching sounds.

(Of course if one of the little neighbor
kids are afraid, I break character and say,
"It's just Jackie!"  They are so used
to me by now.

They always want to know what it is
going to be this year, but it is always
a surprise. No one gets to know!!
The porch gets redecorated and
you can't come until it is dark.
(Last year one little neighbor
girl just gushed over my "morph suit"
and said, "You always have the
coolest costumes!"  Loved that
compliment.)

One year when I was out of town
for Halloween
I got in sooooo
much trouble from the
neighborhood children.  I
was ordered to never do that again!
My older kids and my grandkids
have loved joining in on the spooky
fun, but now they are creating their
own spooky homes - guess I shouldn't
have taught them so well!
(Click here to see them joining me
in the fun.)

Have a Fun and Safe
Halloween!

Beware of Dinner Tonight

The front doors slowly creep open

You have been warned!

Even the butler tries his best to
scare you off

and Thing is on the piano playing
his spooky music,

but you're not scared off,
you know this is Grandma's house
and this is her annual
Halloween Dinner.

Grandma has set up her
kitchen counter as a buffet
with lots of
creepy/funny
foods for everyone to enjoy.

You know there will be candy
and goodies tucked in everywhere,
after all,
THIS IS HALLOWEEN!

She has her wonderful
BOO PLATES
out

which come in an assortment
of four wonderful Halloween colors

Purple (so glad they included that color!)

Black

White

And of course, orange.

They are stacked at the end of the
buffet before the creepy food
gets set out.

Shredded Dragon Tail, now that one got
some questions from both children and adults.

Rolled Snake, doesn't everyone want
bright green bread to go along with
their Dragon Tail?

Ahh, there's something not so scary.

No one could be fooled
by the title of this.
Barf Dip is one of their
favorite dips -
just 8 oz. cream cheese with
1 16 oz. can chili.

This one is a little scarier
because it is served in a ghost pumpkin.

A simple salad with
lovely salad talons,
I mean salad tongs!

It wouldn't be Halloween Dinner
without
Grandma going out to the swamp and
collecting some of her

And dinner hasn't even begun before
the little ones are helping themselves
to Poison Candy.

Again, you have been warned.

Ooh, yum, gummy fangs -
you are warned again and again!

There are even treat bags
to take some Poison Candy
home if you don't have a
stomach ache by the time you leave.

If you get thirsty later and you want to
try something a little more filtered
than Swamp Water, we have some
spooky drinks (Lanette's Apple Ciders
with Martha Stewart Labels glued on over
the original labels.)

We have to finish with some creepy crawly
treats.  These huge spiders are
carrying their eggs on their backs.

And they appear to be migrating.

Not into arachnids and egg sacks,
you say?  How about gummy mummies?

Or pick up one of the brooms
that our friendly witches have parked.

The Newsies group were here

as well as a gory beast and his innocent victim.

This girl has a frying pan and she knows
how to use it.

Do you think Rapunzel has used that
frying pan to defend herself a few times with
those characters?

No one knew who this character was supposed
to be (all assuming he didn't dress in a costume)
but he proudly said he was his brother
(the missionary) - he had taken the glasses,
shirt, jacket and knife in his belt from his
brother's closet.

Now that was a funny one!

Beaulah loved every minute of the
party.

One of my little granddaughters said wistfully,
"Dad, it was a wonderful night wasn't it?"

That little one deserves a witchy kiss!

It made this witch want to get on her broom
and fly around the house!

We will continue the party with

Boo plates - Tai Pan (several years ago)
Talon salad servers - Target (this year)
Spider cupcake holders - Home Goods (this year)

Cobwebs In My Chandeliers

Things are out of control
here at
Purple Chocolat Home
and we need to get some dusting
done and clean out the cobwebs.

And you know where there
are cobwebs, there are spiders
and they are growing pretty big around here.

I can't believe I let it get this
out of hand!!

What with witches flying
in and out and round about
who has time for dusting.

It just gets spookier here by the day.

Hope you are having as
much fun with Halloween as we are.

Thanks for hopping on your brooms
and flying by.
Fly by these parties
to share in all of the fun

Witches' Night Out - Oh The Places I've Been

Put on your pointed hat
and your pointed boots
and come party with us
at Witches' Night Out.

We flew in with these two
cute witches
Miss Utah County, Hannah Harkness
and
Little Miss Utah County, Kyle McCann,
my oldest grandchild.

Park your brooms, you
will be walking and
dancing the rest of the night.

You might even pick up a scary warlock
while you are there (hubby of mine!)

I may have flown in with
the queens from Utah County,
but this is the queen of Gardner Villages'
Witchfest!
(She lives and works here
during the month of October
so you will always find her.  Just
listen for her wicked cackle!)

She has the most
AMAZING
costume ever!
She even has "Gardner Village"
blinged across the back of her
dress this year.  I am sure it
gets wilder each year.  No one
can compete with her for
Evening Gown tonight.

And she stays in character teasing
and insulting (gently) you.
She is such a riot.

I have to admit to a little jewelry envy.
This witchy-poo is bedazzled!

She stopped long enough for
a sweet picture with our queens.
Look at the hem of her dress
and her fancy boots.
Oh wow, she is stylin'!

Looks like we might need to upgrade some
of our boots!
Alas I couldn't find my boots and ended
up in heels this year - double drat!!

The queens had fun posing.

They are kind witches and
will happily pose with you too!

There are just too many fun photo spots.

You will find witches all over
the property, day and night.

(Excuse me madam, you might
want to shut the door!)

Whew!  These girls will stop
and take a photo
with anyone who asks.
(P...U...)

Watch out because
they are flying in
from everywhere.

No one wants to miss out on the fun.

This little diva lights up
and so does her broom.

And she has some really
fancy sisters running around too.

As the sun goes down the party
gets rocking.  The dancing takes place
under this glowing green tree.

There is music and
dancing and great eating
and of course every witches' favorite -
shopping, shopping, shopping!
Gardner Village is a collection
of shops, a restaurant and
a bakery.  It is based around
the Gardner Mill which was
built in 1877 and is located
at 1050 W. 7800 S.
 in West Jordan, Utah.
 They have
other old homes they have
brought in and those are the
shops.  There is something
for everyone here.

So get your sparkle on and
come to the
the biggest and best
Halloween party that I know
of.
They are having it again
this Friday and Saturday,
Oct. 24 and 25, 2013
from 6:00-10:00.
So get your on your brooms and
come early for pictures and
less crowded shopping.  You
can even have your make up and nails done.

Under the green glow of the
magical tree
the witches that own shops have
a boot parade.

These girls know how to strut their stuff.

Wow, where can I get some of these?
Unbelievable!!!

Every great party ends with dessert.
Thanks for coming along for the party!
Maybe we will see you there
this weekend!

I will be flying on over to
