Fading Blooms Tablescape

The blossoms are all beginning to fade here at
Purple Chocolat Home
so I had to quickly do an
outdoor tablescape
before they were all gone.

I bought these gorgeous salad plates
and bowls at
Home Goods
early in the spring and couldn't
miss a chance to include them out in
the garden for a tablescape.

They are amazing in their detail and shape.

The irridescence is just stunning and
I love the silvered edges.

This is the salad plate.  It is gorgeous
all by itself.

But top it with the bowl and it is two
more layers of ruffled petals!

I tried a hydrangea bossom in the
bowl, but it covered everything up
too much.

Wait, they didn't just have pink plates
and bowls, they also had them in
lavendar (and pale teal).
I felt lucky to get enough.
Of course I couldn't decide which color
so I got them in all three, although I
only found one teal one.

I decided to use these adorable miniature
forks and spoons with their curved leaf handles.

They are so cute tucked into the
beaded napkin ring.

Here is a closeup of the handles.
I think they are fantastic.

Green bubble glass goblets
go nicely with the garden theme.

The flower plates and bowls
sit atop my favorite wooden chargers
that seem perfect whatever the
season.

Hydrangeas don't winter over here
and they have pretty much lost
their color by now but
we sure enjoyed them all season.

The hydrangea on the right still has specks
of pink.  I will definitely save the dried
blossoms for future use.

It is always sad to see summer end.
It is definitely my favorite season
and I haven't had enough time to
savor it this year.

I haven't done a tablescape all summer but managed
to do at least one post a week and felt badly
but after getting back out reading your blogs
I realized many of you had busy, busy
summers also and hadn't done much
blogging.

It feels great to do a tablescape again.

Ahhh, so sad to see it all end, but
what a beautiful ending!

I hope you enjoyed your visit to
Purple Chocolat Home today.
I have missed you all and hope to
have a lot more time now.

I will be posting this with

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.

  6. So glad to see you again Jacqueline and what gorgeous dishes...perfect for summer's last hurrah at the table! I never saw any dishes blooming so beautifully at my HomeGoods! It's so funny depending on where you live~ I would happily wave goodbye to summer and fling myself into fall but we have at least 6 more weeks of temperatures in the 80s & 90s with high humidity to boot. Gorgeous hydrangeas!

  25. I am madly in love with those gorgeous petal plates/bowls, etc. and how utterly fabulous that you found them not only in pink....but some w/ the lavender/your beloved purple.....

I was just visiting your site a couple of days ago and read all about the truly gorgeous wedding for your daughter...I tried to leave a comment, but my computer went crazy....I loved every detail, but especially all of the aqua brooches....that color motif w/ the Paris/Eiffel tower motif....what a gorgeous convergence....two of my favorite themes, too.

Divine. What an immense blessing to see your beautiful daughter married so joyfully....and in such true visual splendor.

    Love/hugs/blessings,

  32. Bonjour, Jacqueline!

OH everything here is as lush and fabulous as ever! Those plates, OMG how fun to set those out! I bet you had a wonderful summer? We did, and school is back in session and we are having a heat wave that would make you think we were still in JULY! But all is well and yes, teaching French is a dream. I love to teach, talk, share, EVERYTHING. The only thing for me this year is I'm teaching new grade levels and I need to learn the details of the technology and that is a bit daunting. But the kids are what I love the most.

Have a wonderful start to Fall, and mille mercis for coming to visit! Anita

I am gaga over this table. Those salad plates and bowls are awesomely beautiful. I am so glad we were not in Home Goods at the same time, cuz I would have been fighting you for these. LOL
Your Hydrangeas are pretty and great for drying for fall decor. Ours lose their leaves but do not die down to the ground.
