Gingerbread House Cakes

Warm, fragrant gingerbread is such
a holiday favorite and I found this
wonderful Nordicware pan that makes
the cutest gingerbread cakes in the
form of houses.

One batch makes 3 adorable houses.

I found the pan at Target.  It has two variations
in the same pan.

You can decorate them as much
or as little as you like.

What a fun gift this would be to give
wrapped up in a cellophane bag or on a
pretty plate.

Or -
They would be so much fun for a
 holiday dinner party  -
 a dessert for two.

I love making desserts for two if I
am having couples over for dinner.

Both of them are just so cute and the
gingerbread recipe that comes with the pans
did not disappoint.  It was wonderful.

Gingerbread Cakes Recipe

3 C. all purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C. butter, melted and cooled slightly
1 C. packed brown sugar
1 C. molasses
2 large eggs
1 C. hot water

Heat oven to 350.  Spray pans with Pam with flour;
set aside.  Combine in a medium sized bowl the flour,
baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt.  In
large mixer bowl combine melted butter and brown
sugar.  Stir in molasses and mix until well blended.  Beat
in eggs.  Add dry ingredients and beat on medium until
well blended.  Gradually stir in hot water.  Divide batter
between cavities in cake pan, filling about 3/4 full.

(The recipe said it made two but it made 3.)

Bake for 40-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted
in center comes out clean.  Cool 15 minutes in pan;
invert onto cooling rack and cool completely.  Decorate
as desired.

Really yummy!
And if you are making a few houses for
kids to decorate, it doesn't get easier.

I hope your holiday preparations are
going well and that you are
having fun
 while you are doing everything.

I love to turn the Christmas music on.
It makes everything, even cleaning fun!

I will be posting this  with

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.

  2. How cute and boy do they look moist, and dessert for two when entertaining couples is a great idea. This is so much better than the houses made of gingerbread planks/cookies. I never quite got the hang of those.

  22. Add me to the list of people who are heading to Target to get this pan! The little houses are DARLING, Jacqueline & your icing skills brought out their features beautifully.

I do one of those JoAnn's gingerbread houses every year with the g'kidlets, but they just get thrown out after the holiday...you can only eat the candy in them & sometimes THAT is stale. Doesn't stop the kids! LOL This will be a much nicer project.

Thanks for sharing it & the recipe, too.
    Hugs,
    Rett
