Make Your Blog Permanent - Create A Book

Part of my fall decor on my coffee table
is now my blog - in book form!

Those of you who were with me in the
spring might remember two days when my
blog completely disappeared - no explanation!

After nearly a year of pouring my heart into
my blog, it was very disheartening to find
that it was shut down.  Two days later it
was back, but it was then I decided I wanted
a permanent copy in book form.

Another company was recommended to me,
but I couldn't get it to upload my pictures,
and after two days of messing with it,
I went online to see what people suggested.

I ended up with Blog 2 Print and within 5 minutes
they were able to tell me that I had too many
pictures for one book.  I decided to split it
into 3 books and each one literally took less
than 4 minutes to upload.  I  then just had to
pick my cover and pick a picture for the front
and for the back and that was it.

So I went from this
to this-

When I received them in the mail,
there was such a sense of relief
that I couldn't have it all lost
overnight.

The coffee table has changed
for Thanksgiving with a
floral that I made in neutrals.
I started by filling it with foam
and then added silks, natural
balls, a silk artichoke, calla lillies
and a tassel.

The turkey goes fancy in organza
and velvet.

Everything sits in a tray with a
bronze scarf anchoring the
trayscape.

A pretty ceramic pumpkin
finishes out the vignette.

I had over 3600 pictures to upload.  Each book
cost me about $100 to print but
they range from 200 to 300 pages each.  The
above is the compressed version, which ends
up being cheaper and I prefer it.

This one is the other option which is
printed exactly as the blog is done.  I felt
there was too much empty space and it
is more expensive as it takes more pages.

This would be a great Christmas present
to yourself.
(I have not received any money
from Blog 2 Print, I just wanted to
share this with you and tell you how
pleased I am.)

I will be posting this with

  10. Jacqueline,
These are such great heirlooms to past on to your family! I did this last year. The one thing I wasn't overly pleased with was the lay~out. I had hoped the lay~out to be more like chapters. Each new chapter started on the top of a page...but overall...I was very pleased! Your books will also be a resource for the years to come!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  14. I'm looking forward to turning my blog into a book too! In fact, that's what I had in mind when I started it. My friend, Ceekay, from ThinkinofHome has done that too so I figured it was an easy way of "journaling" about our adventures in Florida. I'll definitely check out the company you used. Thanks!

  26. I had no idea you could do this. Thanks for sharing your info. I too woke up one day last week to find my blog had "shut down". I had to really work to figure out how to get it restored, but it did, quite literally, make me ill. I need to ask for this for Christmas....however tiny it will be. :) I love your new purple coffee table treasures.

  27. OH JACKIE, I hope you get this before you repost for Table Top Tuesday...but thank you dearest for visiting me; I am very sick and was unable to come to visit last night.....but this is an idea that I have had for a while...what I am going to do during the holiday vacations is I am going to take what I think are my best posts and tweak them into poems...and then make my own books...now, see, I don't use any of my own photos! How does that rest with the publication of the book, using OTHER people's photos? I know you take your own beautiful pictures, but with me, it would be difficult. So that is why I am opting to take my words and just try to publish the words alone...BUT THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!

    Back later...Anita

    Good for you.
I was very happy with my book also and recommend them:)

  31. Well, your book looks beautiful, and I love the color you selected for the cover! Perfect!

I, too, experienced the shock of having my blog shut down, but I was able to get it running again.

Can you select which pictures you'd like in your book and which articles? I don't know that I would want my entire blog, but I would like certain articles. Does it also upload the comments? Those are actually my favorite parts because some people say the funniest things and others, the sweetest.

I'm so glad you let us know about this, Jacqueline. Thank you!

    XOXOXO,

    Sheila :-)

  40. Last week I was in the middle of a post and wondered why it would not save. I opened another page and typed in my blog address and got the message "we're sorry, this blog has been removed". I thought it was some error on my part. Tried again. Same message. I then googled my blog and clicked a link that way. Same message. I thought I'd check my other blog. Same message. I then went to my gmail account to email google about it. SAME message! I had to google blogger information and fill out a form, using not my email since they'd cut it off, but another for them to contact me. The next day I got a message from Google apologizing for the inconvenience. I was about in tears wondering what rule I'd broken or done wrong for Google to come in and shut me down...completely! I'm doing this and backing my blog up to some other form other than blogger. I found out that Google automatically uses words to detect spam and they'll shut your blog down with NO notice at all. Then when you ask them to look into it if they find anything suspicious (even in comments!!!!) they can shut it down and not say anything else about it...including an explanation of why. Quite unnerving if you ask me.
When my blog was out of commission for that small amount of time, I really thought about having all my eggs in one basket. It was crushing to think I'd lost what I've poured so much of myself into for the past 2 years.

I hope your readers , those who blog, take your post to heart!

Thanks for the great information and link to your source.

What a great keepsake anyway! My Mom would love it as a gift!

  45. I had the same experience a few weeks ago...my blog was removed without any explanation or reason and there is really no recourse. Like the others mine came back but it was very, very distressing. I love the idea of the books.

  50. Thank you for posting about this! I am totally planning to do this at the end of the year. How many pages is each of your books? I figure by the end of the year I will probably be up to like 100 posts. Do you know how many posts are in each book? Does it bother you the captions to the pictures aren't under the pictures? I can't wait to do this!
