"Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be
expected of us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well
as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds."
Theodore Roosevelt

Truly, much has been given to us and this is a day on
which we take special time to give thanks for all of
the great blessings that flow upon us daily.

Years ago we began a family tradition of reading scriptures
together at the end of the day and then expressing three
things we were grateful for.  The kids were younger and
we were starting to see a lack of gratitude in their behavior.

"If the only prayer you said in your life was 'thank you'
that would suffice."
Meister Eckhart

Taking the time daily to notice and feel grateful
and to say thank you has been a wonderful family
tradition that has brought us all closer together.

As we sit around the board this year, may we all
take the opportunity to express gratitude for our
blessings and especially for one another.

"Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest
men; but be careful that you do not take the day and
leave out the gratitude."
E.P. Powell

To express gratitude is one of life's greatest opportunities.

Never miss an opportunity to say thank you
or to say I love you.  It will enrich your life
and the lives of those around you.

It has been such a pleasure to take the opportunity
this month with each post to express gratitude.

My life is so bounteous with blessings, especially
when I take the time to count them.

May your blessings be bounteous during this season
and always.

We always serve Spiced Pumpkin Soup as a
first course in the turkey bowls.

Look for the recipe on Between Naps On The Porch's
Foodie Friday.

  9. Dear Jacqueline,
That was a beautiful post. Which reminds me of how grateful I am to have such an amazing and loving mother-law.
Here is my hope to win the giveaway...I am a 'religious' follower of your blog. If I won I would spend the money on ties for my husband. Most of his ties have big snags in the silk, and he recently had to part with a few of his favorites. I would also spend the money on two little girls...pretty much on anything pink, frilly, and probably excessive. Next, my favorite part of the movie is when they find out that Santa is the old man. I will be crossing my fingers until the results are in. Love you so much.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.~ Melody Beattie
